Bog Escape is an outdoor escape room created by the Burns Bog Conservation Society. The Burns Bog Conservation Society is a non-profit group that works to preserve this ecologically unique area, while educating the public on the environmental importance of peat bogs.
An escape room is typically a room or rooms that you must solve puzzles to “escape”. We’ve adapted the concept to the bog setting using the series of boardwalks in the Delta Nature Reserve.
Anyone can play! Just bear in mind that the route is through gravel roads and wooden boardwalks. The road is prone to flooding when it rains, which may present a challenge for anyone with mobility issues.
Absolutely! We’ll even tone down the scare factor for our younger guests, offer a discounted rate for youth and seniors, and 5 or under plays for free! Our official Family Friendly booking times are between 5-7pm, but we do have systems in place to let our staff and volunteers know if you’d like a less scary adventure after dark. There are no jump scares, but there may be creepy actors that we can hold back from your group if requested.
It is illegal to consume alcohol or smoke cigarettes in the Delta Nature Reserve. Due to safety reasons it is not advisable to consume alcohol or other substances prior to playing. If players are found to be under the influence, they may be removed from the game.
It is recommended that you book in advance, especially if you want to take advantage of our early bird pricing. Walk-ins will be welcome if space permits, but you may not be able to get your preferred time.
Teams must be between 2-6 players. You’re welcome to book individually to join your friends that have already booked if space allows. Note that if you book a time slot with less than 6 spaces available to book, that means that there are already people booked in that time slot, so you will be playing with others.
Because there is walking time between the puzzles, the game can take up to 2.5 hours. However, some of the more clever groups will finish much faster.
Don’t worry. We’re here to help you succeed! Each group will have a guide that will accompany them and give them hints if needed. Every team will complete the course, but some will take more time than others.
Dress appropriately for the weather as it’s all outdoors. You’ll be walking and standing the entire game, so wear comfortable shoes. If you don’t have suitable rain gear and it’s raining, you may want to bring an umbrella. Bring a flashlight or headlamp if you have one for after dark games. If you don’t have one, we can lend you one. Washroom facilities are limited, so we recommend that you use the washroom before attending. Most importantly, bring fun people that will help you succeed in escaping the bog!
If you’re using Google Maps, use the address of Planet Ice, which is 10388 Nordel Court, Delta. You’ll actually park on the far side of the Planet Ice parking lot, and then follow the signs for Bog Escape down the trail towards the Nordel overpass. You’ll find our Welcome Station set up under the overpass.
